Frankincense
One of Young Living's most popular oils, frankincense is the aromatic resin obtained
from the Boswellia carteri tree. The bark of the tree is slashed to allow resin to seep
and harden in order to distill this essential oil. Once hardened, the resin is removed
from the tree and the oil is extracted through steam distillation. Considered a precious
holy oil, frankincense has been used since Biblical times in temple rites and was given
to the Christ child as a gift from the Magi. Today this oil is valued for its skin-healing
